Casey Aimer

Casey Aimer at White Sands
Casey and Koda

Casey Aimer (he/him) is a speculative poet and editor living in DC with his wife.

A penchant for academia and learning about words, he holds three degrees:

  • Master of Professional Studies — Publishing

  • Master of Fine Arts — Poetry

  • Bachelor of Arts — Prose

A current SFWA and SFPA member, he is active on both sides of the publishing industry as both a writer and editor. He works to promote speculative poetry and is an inaugural member of the SFWA Poetry Committee, helping create the Nebula Award for Poetry.

In 2022, he founded Radon Journal, an award-winning semi-pro publisher that focuses on science fiction, transhumanism, anarchism, and cyberpunk dystopia.

Casey is an elder emo and punk rocker who began his poetry career inside dive bars, reciting to anyone who'd listen. In a previous life, he was a touring spoken word poet, National Poetry Slam finalist, and university Teacher of Record.

Most nights, you can find him planning direct action or at a local punk show, moshing as a form of therapy and community building—or hooking his brain up to computers and hoping the singularity would hurry up and arrive.

He is represented by literary agent Tasneem Motala of the Belcastro Agency. His poetry style focuses on emotional free verse coupled with narrative sci-fi conceits. Personal, hard-hitting, and full of universal wonder, Casey brings the joy of speculative poetry into the public consciousness.

Additional industry endeavours:

  • 2023 Rhysling Award Juror

  • 2025 Foofaraw Contest Judge

  • Issue 58 Eye to the Telescope Editor
